Sadly there are quite a few whippetty types and lurchers found as strays in the Durham area. The one saving grace is that Durham County Council have a 'non destruction' policy and are well supported by kennels such as Stray Aid, Stray Action for Dogs (based at Deerness Kennels) etc. It's still sad but they stand a better chance of being rehomed than in some other areas of the country where the 7 day rule means they are at real risk of being PTS :(

So many lovely dogs :(

I try not to look at the sites listing the pound dogs, it's too depressing - but as Lal says at least these stand a good chance of getting rescue spaces if they aren't claimed so are better off than some areas of the country.
