Okay - for those who want to see it pick up in here, I've not seen this posted over here, so for those who've not seen it yet a couple of weeks ago The Whippet Archives added a new tool to the site

Quote from the front page of TWA

We now offer an extensive pedigree analysis page for each dog stored in the TWA database. This analysis contains the inbreeding coefficient (Wright's formula), ancestor loss, the partial inbreeding coefficient, the blood quota and more.
Please note: The pedigree analysis is based on the information in the database and is only accurate to that extent. These calculations are very complex, so the page might take longer to load than other pages on TWA.

You can find a link to the pedigree analysis page on each dog's detail page and on the testmating page, see screenshots:
The default is 7 generations, but you can alter it to show as many or as few as you would like. If it is missing dogs it will only go as far as it can provide complete information.

It really is fascinating to see the number of times particular dogs are in a pedigree among other things...

Have fun playing, and maybe we can have a conversation ;)

If there is no cooking, cleaning, ironing or whippet walking being done today we will all blame Wendy for putting this info. on!! It really is fascinating, thanks Wendy.

We first saw something similar on the KC website and noticed last week that it was on TWA. It's very interesting.

The KC one isn't anywhere near as complete or as detailed as the TWA one, so I was really pleased to see this when they put it up. The unfortunate thing with the KC one is that only dogs registered with our KC are included. Not even the ones with ATC are included so it's really not much help when you're missing so many pieces of the pedigree.

I could spend hours in there :b

The link on the TWA site is far more useful than the KC one as it uses complete generations whereas if you play on the KC site, and this is not just for Whippets, it states taken over (for example) 7 generations but also goes back over (for example) 14 taking into account the dogs they have on record therefore making it inaccurate in its claims.

Try a comparison and see for yourself but take note on the KC one of the small print alongside it.
