i have a non peg Whippet i want to try her at racing. I used to go Longdogs(East Sussex) with my Greyhounds few years ago. If your whippet is not a peg one you have to race with the lurchers. So im after somewhere i can race with Whippets, i live near Brighton, where is the nearest. thanks

Trap 1, The two nearest track and clubs who race on a regular basis are Fordingbridge in Hampshire or the South East W.R.C. who race at Thurrock near Greys Essex. You will find all the help required from both of these two clubs and all the members will make you very welcome.

Fordingbridge have an Open next Sunday (23 March) for Pedigree & Non-Pedigree dogs. We will be there.

Fordingbridge is in Dorset, nearer Bournemouth than Soton or Pompey.

South East WRC have a club meeting on Sunday, normally starting around 1PM.

They race at Thurrock RFC, which is located off Blackshots Lane. From the M25 leave at J30/31 for the A13 towards Tilbury and Lakeside. Leave at the 2nd exit (Grays) and at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit which is signposted Chadwell St. Mary. Keep going for about 1 mile untill you reach another roundabout. Take the 1st left. This is Blackshots Lane. Abot 300 yards up the Rugby Club is signposted on the right. You can park in the Club car park. A new track will be used on Sunday, which was prepared this week, it will enable straight running up to 200 yards and is fully grassed.

Sadly I won't be there this week to continue my pups trialing, but if you contact Sheila she will put you in the right direction. Quite a few racers come up from the South Coast.

fordingbridge is just thru salisbury towards portsmouth and hinglesbury head, if u no where that is i will find sarah smiths (secretay) number then she will give u directions, the more the merier.
