What do you do when your dog scavenges and makes herself ill

This happens occasionally with my dog, usually when I am about to go away!! Last night my dog was sick and was trying to heave up nothing once or twice this morning. My plan is to give her nothing today and four small meals of rice tomorrow gradually adding nature diet to the rice the following day. Most of the time this works and after about three days we are back to normal..if not it's a trip to the vet. Does anyone out there have any favourite way of getting their dog right.

Any body got any advice re getting vomit stains out of carpets? Last nights offering bought up a last thing charcoal biscuit and consequently a horrid dark stain. So far one go of vanish stain remover but looks as though I am going to have to persevere!
