Hi I have a nine week old cavapoo and he’s currently on puppy wet food just wondering when we transfer him to dry food and how it’s done. The wet food seems to be very rich for him and dark diareah he’s only been on this food for four days just wondering if it’s to rich ? Stuck on what to do

The best advice is to keep him on the same food as he had at the breeder for a little while - the stress of a new home and routine can cause tummy upsets so you don't want to add to that by changing the food too.

I would then ask why you want to change the food - is it a poor quality wet? In any foods (dry, wet, raw) there is a range; some are better than others. But dry is not, in itself, better than wet. A quality wet is better than a rubbish dry.

If you do want to change have a look at www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk.

It is an independent dog food comparison website which scores all types of foods (dry, raw, wet) on a scale of 0 to 5. You can set filters for your dog's weight, age etc and choose to view only the foods scoring, say, 4 and above. Then you can show them listed according to daily feeding cost so you can see what gives you best value for money. But do change over slowly, over about a 10 day period, to allow your dog's digestive system to adjust.
