The 2009 Westminster breed judging took place yesterday and I was there!

BOB went to Ch. Sporting Fields Glory Bound.

If you would like to see the video of breed judging, it can be found HERE

I am the handler with the golden fawn dog in the golden suit (2nd from the beginning). We had a good trip and made a lot of cuts with our SBIS Ch. Surrey Hill's Golden Boy.

That was great. My fav was the brindle parti  , Lady had a white/ivory jacket with black buttons and black skirt. Do you know which dog that was?

Thanks for the link :)

Well, Brindle parti doesn't narrow it down much as that was most of them, but I think you must be talking about Ch. Starline's Chanel, who flew in from California. That matches the description of the handler's outfit.

Glad you enjoyed the video!

Karen

It could have been worse.

I could have said "I like the brindle parti on the left". :D

Thanks for that :) . Lot of lovely dogs. Funny I have been looking at some US dogs few days ago and Sporting Fields Glory Bound and Surrey Hill's Golden Boy were among the handful we were very impressed by.

There certainly were few more in this lineup I would not mind to take home. :)

Nice vid, and very nice dogs.

I am still a fan of Ch Shamasan HNDHill Body&Soul, and my new favorite is Ch Sportingfield Little Black Dress....but there were some more really lovely dogs! :) :)

i am sure Little Black Dress was the2nd black&white in that line up. She is very nice, but for me it would be Glory Bound anytime.

Many thanks Karen that was great to watch. Will there be any opportunity to read a critique of the placings made? What is the criteria for showing at Westminster? I have a favourite but I'm going to watch it again later to have another look.

Critiques are not normally done for Westminster.

i realy liked the black bitch who won i picked her out in the line up she is so sound and very femine

Thanks--I am happy you liked Golden Boy. He's a young dog and we do show him in fit running condition. Not everyone likes that about him, but he is what he is...a teenager who is hard to keep in weight right now because he's so active and he just burns food right off. He came very close to a top prize, but the judge said he just ran out of awards one dog too soon. We will be back in a year or so when he is more mature.

I think we all tend to be much harder on our own dogs we see all the time. I didn't know how this entry would come across to the folks overseas. I enjoy seeing video and photos of winners from countries I don't show in, and always find much to admire despite some of the differences.

I think that he is in excellent condition according to his age. You must be so proud....my eyes are always on blacks :b , but have to say that Golden Boy is a stunner  .

It is so interesting for me how hard to find and keep the best condition, especially by young dogs, or active (field/track) dogs. Here we have some judges who prefer the well musculated, fatless condition, and there are some who like to see Whippets with a bit overconditioned look. Not easy to decide what will be preferred on the next show. I like to see them in sporty but good condition, but any plus weight can be a disadvantage on the racing track/coursing field. So not easy to decide where to go; a show year is a show year, and a sporty year is a sporty year without any show condition. So not easy at all. :(

Absolutely agree. :)

I just love Body&Soul too. I was really disapointed last summer for not being able to go to WW-08, when I realized that "Handy" had been there. I would have loved to see him.

I never seem to get enough of these Westminster -videos, I'll have to look this one again and really see who the Golden Boy was. He looks so stunning in photos!

I just hope I would have been there: so many beautiful whippets!

Shameless plug--we got a nice series of photos of our dog from a friend who was one of the official photographers there.

Butters photos from the Garden

Photography and film is very controlled on the exhibition floor at Westminster. You have to be approved and have a special media tag to be taking photos down there. So, we couldn't take our own but this nice photographer who also has Whippets did take a lot of our dog. We will certainly be buying some of these.

It's been a week and it seems like yesterday! What a thrill to exhibit there.

Thank You for sharing these, there are some excellent shots of him. I think that showing such wonderful ownbred dog like Butters is has to be an incomparable feling....You must be very proud, he is very handsome and masculine, and still a young boy. Congratulations!

:)
