All set to go the night before, brushed, teeth, ears, nails etc. Thought we would have an early night due to early start so OH took Digger for last walk of the night. Came back when I realised he still had a couple of whiskers under his chin, which I duly cut off. Almost immediately his eyes started to go glazie and spaced out, started to shiver and flopped on the sofa - then he started to shiver and breathe very fast and shallow and his paws and ears went white and cold (w00t) (w00t)

I know these can be symptoms of shock, but I only cut his whiskers!! Was worried in case I had pulled his head back too far!! OH said he was licking something out on walk but dark so could not see what. Rang vets for advice and they suggested we monitor. After about half an hour the colour came back to his paws and they were warm but his breathing was still very fast. After an hour this receeded enough for us to sleep, but by then had obviously made the decision that we would not be having a 5am start and would not be attending the show :(

This morning he was a bit better but we took him to the vets who said his pulse was a bit fast and he had a high temperature. Thought it was an allergic reaction to something. Gave him a 'magic' injection and by luchtime he was back to his normal self. :))

Unfortunately tonight he is again lethargic and 'smacking' his chops and not himself again (w00t)

Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on this.

Sorry its along thread!!

Sorry to hear Digger is a bit off colour, How is he tonight ? I haven,t got any usefull thoughts on what it could of been . But hope he's ok

Thanks Lizzyb

He has reverted to being very off colour. although his breathing, eyes etc are not as bad as last night. It's very worrying when you don't know whats wrong isn't it?

Hows Digger today Debs ? It sounds more like some kind of poisoning to me, for Digger just to be quiet, it must be bad. Got my fingers crossed that he's back to his old self today. :huggles:

Sorry to hear about poor Digger :( - not got any ideas other than the above - hope he has improved today   - must have been really frightening seeing him in that state. :(

Sorry to hear about Digger hope he's feeling better soon :huggles: for Digger

Have they being spraying weeds or hedgerows in your area where you walk him?

Sorry Debs , I havnt a clue what it could be , :( apart from some sort of poisoning as already suggested . Have you got to take him back to the vets ? Fingers crossed he makes a full recovery :luck:

Thank you all very much for your input - I really appreciate it :)

Digger does appear to be better than he was, certainly with regard to eyes, breathing etc, although he is still 'flat'. Only to be expected I suppose when he's not ben feeling well.

Very greatful for pm's and quick responses :huggles:

Good to hear that he's a bit better Deb - but keep a close eye on him - I wouldn't be taking any chances with anything that seems like a poisoning of some kind. And if you don't think he's right be back at the vets demanding some attention. Keep us posted.

ooooooooooooooo poor Digger-really hope he's feeling better :luck: :huggles:

Hello

Thanks so much for your concerns

He does seem to be improving now - went for short walk this evening and he didn't seem to tire as quickly as he had been.

Hopefully, he is now well on the road to recovery.

He is entered in the Bournemouth Canine Assoc show on Saturday, so fingers crossed - but we will see how he goes this week.

We are taking the caravan to stay there. Is anyone else camping???

Thanks again.

Deb please let us know how he continues.

Wendy

Thanks, yes of course I will.

All the signs are looking good tho - will update tomorrow.

Hi,

I just wondered if you think he may have had a fit, one of our dogs had fits and it would start with his eyes glazing, they also do salivate and shake or shiver when having one, also would explain him slowly getting back to normal, We would find our boy would sleep alot afterwards.

Hope whatever it is he is soon better

Hi all,

I am sooooooooooooo pleased to say that Digger is back to his normal self and enjoying being naughty again, pinching the sunniest seat and stealing the cats food  :- "

He appears absolutely fine now - you wouldn't know there had been anything wrong with him.

I am so relieved - I will never tell him off again......ever, even when he is being REALLY bad (w00t) (w00t)

Thank you all so much for your concern

:D Thats great news Debs........... Digger if your reading this, mummy said you can be really really naughty now LOL :- "

Thankgoodness , what a relief it must be for you

Glad to hear he's back to himself. It's horrible when they're off and can't tell you what's wrong.
