Greetings to all lure coursers. Another fantastic day has just been enjoyed by this old established club that is ever more capable of going from strength to strengh despite its already high standards.
After the ground breaking event at Holbeach we returned to what should have been a more modest event. Not so my friends! A bread and butter event this was NOT. In fact it was a veritable feast of lure coursing action that was set before the assembled faithful.
The venue was a huge field of stubble on a Norfolk farm on a gentle slope, affording the best possible views for members and spectators alike.
We competed for three prestigious trophies . First up was our long established Bitch Trophy
The winner from a truly quality field of 8 runners was Mr P Hawkins' PENNY PICTURES who in the final accounted for Mr C West-Meads and Ms R Wenham's MISEMAINE PICCALILI
The second trophy was our Dog Trophy. The standard in this stake was monumentally high, not for the faint hearted!
The winner was Mr and Mrs CFG Doyle's FIRE BLADE :zorro: who in a close final ran out the winner over Mr D Syer's MISEMAINE RELISH
The final stake was the Britannia Cup for mixed all aged whippets ( Not exceeding 21 ins. of course)This was a very useful field and the winner was Ms S Layfield's WINTERFELL TINKERBELLE who ran out the winner against Mr and Mrs G Gilfeather's ( the very useful) VANYA NEOLITHIC SHADOW.
The purse winners were VANYA CHEYENNE SKY, CHEYDANHAR TOTEM, EUGINIE PRINCESS, and (the great) SAUCEY MADAM.
A few more words about the running ground. The course was varied to provide a realistic mix of challenges .On each occasion we were running about 600 metres over tallish stubble in good sunshine that was a pleasure to be out in.
Many congrats to those who were priviledged to be there to witness sport at its very best
NOTE: Please send entries for LURE COURSING EXTRAVAGANZA. HOLBEACH 10 NOV. Not much space left but don't miss out.
