veteran champions

Can anyone please explain why the veterans at the forthcoming BWRA Bend Championships do not run for titles this year? I can find no record of this at the BWRA write on on the AGM. Only that the Sidewinder trophy be run for by racing champions only. Fair enough, but this is only one trophy and run at the straight championships. I see from the Bend Advert all the veterans are still racing in classes and surely its only been a couple of years that they have run for titles. Such a good idea as it encourages people to keep their oldies and gives the oldies another bite of the cherry. Lots of good dogs have won racing champion titles over the past couple of years and its lovely to see them have last chance.

All I'm asking is when was it voted out.

As far as i am aware the only championships where there are no vet titles given out is the sidewinder saunter,the other 3 championships should be run for titles.I hope for all veterans sake that you are wrong. :b

I wish I was wrong also but have you read the back page of the last Whippet News in the advert for the BWRA Bend Championships. It clearly says

Vets not to gain Veteran Championship status.

so do i as i know of a few people who are going with vet's to the champs.

I personally think its a real shame ...i don't see the problem with letting vets gain there titles

bet Mad Mick doesn't run in vets now

I dare bet 70 percent of people who voted for the sidewinder saunter to be run for rch champs only, did not realise they were stopping vet titles as well.The easiest solution was to move the sidewinder saunter from august champs and put it on some other time then none of this would have come about. :angry:

seen that the vets that won at bend champs yesterday received championship trophies ..did they get there statues too?

Did anyone find out on Sunday why the Veteran championships were stopped, who voted it out and when was it decided? Or perhaps did they have veteran trophies and status as Mutley wondered?

think it was proposed for this year by john gill ...but there was a mix up or some thing john might explain ..i dont know alot about it ..just saw vets receiving champ trophies on sunday

Are you all sure vets don't get titles when they race at a championship event, if this is so then it needs to be changed so that vets do attain a title, the sidewinder is for RCH only as this is what the trophy was put on for?? can we not have a veteran open at the championships for vets to attain a VET RCH, this would encourage more people to race their vets I am sure??what do you all think ??

ALL I PROPOSED WAS THAT THE SIDEWINDER SAUNTER TO BE RACED FOR AS IT WAS INTENDED I.E. RACING CHAMPIONS IF THE BEND CHAMPS HAVE BEEN CHANGED THEN THE COMMITTEE HAVE TOOK IT UPON THEMSELVES TO CHANGE IT NOTHING TO DO WITH MY PROPOSAL
