Vegetable Plot Update

This is how it looked at the end of November.

This was taken just 6 weeks ago.

Onions

Lettuces

Look at it now! (w00t)

In the photo below - very top left corner are our loganberries which look as though they are going to do really well this year - we didn't get many last year. The other bushes are blackcurrants and gooseberries. Unfortunately, the strawberries didn't grow properly and we only have a few beetroot and spring onions that have come through. The vegetables right at the end are Jerusalem artichokes. So far we have only harvested little lettuces which are very nice!

We ran out of space at the end of the garden so have planted runner beans and courgettes in this area where we already have a plum and greengage tree, one blackcurrant bush and some raspberries.

And finally, I spent a lovely afternoon lazing in the sun in the garden with my whippets and listening to one of our local brass bands practising for the Whit Friday contests over at Saddleworth/Staleybridge. 8) :thumbsup:

Seriously Nicola, you'd be more than welcome if you fancied a trip over some time. :thumbsup: The dogs would enjoy the garden, I'm sure. Plenty of tea here for you too! And a nice reservoir walk. But no chickens for Stan - we decided we couldn't cope with chickens as well as Jonah!! :lol:

We're in the Glossop area, probably not that far from you over the Pennines! :thumbsup: Are you actually in Sheffield or nearby? And I'm sorry to say that most of the work has been done by our gardener who, although he only does 3 or 4 hours a week, works really hard. My husband does what he can but is too busy to do as much as he would like. I don't do any gardening at all because of my worm phobia (seriously! :x ). And most of the vegetable patch is fenced off so little whippies can't help with their own brand of gardening! :lol:

Hi I am in the Hillsborough area of Sheffield, know the Glossop area reasonably well as travel the snake often! Usually out and about in Derbyshire walking, would love to live further out and have a garden with a view like you, and more whippies :wub:

One day as alas I am currently a full time slave to the working week.... :unsure: :blink:

Worms aren't so bad? Izzy was after a hedgehog in our garden late last night :x

What a gorgeous garden. Two of our whippets came from your neck of the woods, Uppermill. I loved going up to see the pups and driving through that stunning countryside. Amazing how wild and unspoiled it is, yet so close to Manchester!
