I am sorry to inform those that new GRAND CHAMPION TAEJAAN READ MY LIPS & CHAMPION MS. MARGARITA. Both were laid to rest today.

My heart goes to Sonia, Molly & Co. at Taejaan. May their memory live on.

Oh My God,

That is so sad :( , often thought about using Read My Lips over one of my bitches.

My sympathy goes out to all at Taejaan.

Debra :(

RIP - Floyd and Georgia - Great Ambassadors for the breed.

Both were suffering badly the effects of old age illnesses and Floyd could hardly walk at all. Would have been an extremely difficult goodbye and I know exactly how Molly, Sonja and Alicia feel.

My current litter are a triple up on Floyd. His legacy will certainly live on. He has been a great sire for Taejaan and many other kennels.

Sleep, silent angels, go to sleep

Received in an email today from Molly Rule-Steele, Taejaan Whippets, her official farewell to Floyd and Georgia. Posted here with her permission. Lana

VALE GRAND CH TAEJAAN READ MY LIPS (1992-2004) AND CH TAEJAAN MS MARGARITA (1994-2004)

You cannot imagine how difficult it was to say goodbye to these two legendary Whippets. Making the decision for them wasn't easy... but when they are our friends and beloved pets we have to put their quality of life as a top priority and push sentiment and selfishness aside. I held both these dogs in my arms and whilst they were going I reflected on their lives and what they had contributed to me and the Taejaan kennel during their lifetime.....

The void left in our lives from the loss of Spec/Multi A/B Royal BIS Grand Ch Taejaan Read My Lips and his daughter Sydney Royal BIS Ch Taejaan Ms Margarita will never be filled. Both these dogs meant the world to us and as a breeder I am very proud to have helped orchestrate their existence..

Floyd was from an unplanned union between Ch Noholme Pepper Mill (Cricket) and his daughter Ch Shalique Satin Layce. Cricket jumped over one fence..skirted around the adjoining roads which led to the main kennel driveway and jumped another fence to mate her...So I guess it was Cricket who instigated this precious litter.

I chose Floyd as a keeper whilst he was still wet (although I do think it was the fact that Blind Freddie could have seen his clean smooth outline as his quality was very evident). Although we had several offers, he was never to leave Taejaan from that day.

He was a rather gangly youngster who wasn't shown much in the baby or the puppy classes. I entered him for Melbourne Royal when he was 13 months old and to my delight he won the Dog Challege under Jackie Quiros, a Whippet Specialist. I made it quite clear that day he wasn't ready for such a win as he needed to mature. This he did do and on his 3rd birthday he blossomed into a dog who will be remembered by many. He was a consistent winner at the major Royals and won 9 Royal CCs, many Royal BOB& R/UpBOB (most to our own bitches), 3 X Royal BIGs and BIS Adelaide Royal 1999. He won several CCs & R/UP BIS at Specialties (again many to our own bitches) and BIS Whippet Assn Vict under Lucinda Aldrich-Blake. Also 12 All Breeds BIS and 16 R/Up BIS All Breeds.

He was a natural showman and I will never forgot the performance of his life when he won BIS Adelaide Royal and he knew it was his swansong and gave his all that day to secure his win. He also was as hard as nails...fearless ... and could cope with almost any situation dished up to him. He was also loving and sweet and would love to sit in the whelping box with the bitches to help clean and nurture the puppies. Floyd's record as a sire has now overtaken his sire's. To date he has sired over 40 champions on several continents, many Royal BOB and CC winners, 5 Grand Champions and multiple All Breeds BIS winners. His most famous daughter, Sydney Royal BIS Ch Taejaan Ms Margarita, 'Georgia' (who we lost the very same day as her sire). His last litter born here are doing very well and at 6 months we have in co-ownership a few promising youngsters. His look-alike son Taejaan Just as I Am, 'Bertie', at 6 months is a chip off the old block and we are very excited with the prospect he may go close to slotting his father's shoes in the show ring. He is a natural and has the attitude his father was reknown for.

Sydney Royal BIS Ch Taejaan Ms Margarita who was out of (Spec BIS Ch Taejaan Tia Maria) was a slow maturing puppy and was only exhibited very lightly taking back seat to her sister BIS Ch Taejaan Tequila Sunrise. Her major wins in the show ring were R/Up BIS Whippet Spec NSW under Mrs Susan Badick, a Whippet Specialist, and R/Up All Breeds BIS under the late Laurie Grant. She was a complex little person who was soft and sweet and didn't really cope well with long trips and dogshows. So after her BIS win at Sydney Royal and the ordeal of a week away from home living out of a dog trailer, and the stress of coping with the closing ceremony then endless photographers and interviews we promised her from that day she would never have to again travel far from home. So she was retired from general exhibition from that day at 2 years of age. She leaves behind her lovely sons, 'Paden', Ch Taejaan Ina Tuxedo (who promises to be an exciting stud dog) and Ch Taejaan Ina Top Hat.

Rest In Peace Floyd and Georgia ... now all the members of our ROYAL FAMILY have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge..
