FOR A LONG TIME NOW, MY BOY HAS TAKEN TO GOING UPSTAIRS WHEN WE EAT AT THE TABLE.

EVERY TEA TIME, WHEN TEA IS READY, I GATHER MY SIBLINGS TO JOIN ME AT THE TABLE.

AS MY TEENAGER IS USUALLY UPSTAIRS ON THE COMPUTER AND HUSBAND IS SAT READING THE PAPER, I HAVE TO BELLOW TO REMIND THEM THAT WE ARE ABOUT TO EAT!

IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT WITHOUT FAIL, MY WHIPPET GETS OUT OF BED AND GOES UPSTAIRS INTO OUR BEDROOM AND SITS THERE UNTIL WE HAVE FINISHED! :- "

HE KNOWS IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE HAVE FINISHED BECAUSE HE CAN HEAR MOVEMENT SO COMES BACK DOWN AGAIN BACK INTO BED. (w00t)

IF HOWEVER WE HAVE A TAKEAWAY AND EAT OFF OUR KNEES, HES MORE THAN HAPPY TO REMAIN IN HIS BED WHILST WE EAT.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHY HE DOES THIS?

SOMEONE SAID IT WAS A PECKING ORDER THING, HE GOES UPSTAIRS WHILST 'THE PEASANTS' EAT, AS THOUGH HES LORD OF THE MANOR.

WHEN WE EAT FROM OUR KNEES HE CAN MONITOR THE WHOLE SITUATION SO WILL REMAIN IN HIS BED. IM NOT SO SURE ABOUT THIS, AND FIND IT VERY INTRUIGING!

IM NOT AT ALL UPSET BY THIS BECAUSE ITS SOMETHING WE HAVE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH, JUST NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ANYTHING OF IT!

i always thought the pecking order thing works the other way round with dogs and food - Alpha's get to eat first and only when they've finished do the lower ranks get a go!...........so maybe when he goes upstairs it's to say he understands that the most important doggies are eating now.............this theory doesn't explain why take-aways are any different though!

yes but in all honesty i dont always shout, if the siblings are down stairs i dont always need to.

that said then, it must just be when we all descend on the dining table.

bizarre isnt it?

it makes sense going upstairs when we sit at the table, but not when we have it in front of the TV.

maybe its not to reason why, maybe its one of his lovely iccle foiables! :wub:

Our Nana often disappears of up stairs by herself, and when we are eating she goes through into the kitcken and goes to bed. Tess never does this as she is always with me, usually under my feet.
