the uplands lurcher and longdog club are holding their annual show on sunday 28th of august at pontop pike,dipton county durham dh9 9as.to include the uplands bull x championship.
please note that this year there is a change to the program and the bull x finals will now be held first at 1pm.there will be a last chance dog and bitch qualifier at 12.30.following the championship there will be an open ferret lurcher and terrier show.new this year for the lucher side is dog and bitch whippet classes,a qualifier for the west coast whippet championships at flimby west cumbria in september.there is also a family dog class.the terrier schedule includes plummer and bedlington classes.also new this year is the uplands grand prize draw.prizes include a bellman and flint terrier locator,lithium lamping kit,ferret locator,a lamp,terrier boxes(x2)one of which will come with roundmouth and fox nets.ferret boxes(x2)one of which will come with a spade and pursenets.for the shooting folk there is a gamebag,cartridge bag and cartridge belt.sacs have kindly donated a years free insurance as a prize.there is also leather leads up for grabs courtesy of bootstrap leather products of county durham.tickets are £5 each and are limited to 300,uplands club members are not permitted to purchase tickets!a limited number of tickets remain,anybody wishing to buy any can pm me or call 07718990277 and i'll reserve them.two new features this year is a gundog scurry courtesy of waynesson gundogs and lurcher and terrier racing courtesy of dennned of border area fieldsports.format will be as follows:last chance bull x qualifier(dog and bitch)bull x championship.open show,before the championship the grand prize draw will be held.pup championship then adult championship.please note that there is no best of breed for terriers this year,all class winners go to the final.the gundog scurry will be held as the show is going on.after the championship the lurcher and terrier racing will be held.mick dadd the netmaker wil be in attendance,as will the sacs stand,bootstrap leather products,gatehouse enterprise of cold hesledon ind.est.seaham county durham who sells all manner of things relating to dogs,horses and poultry.i think the north east ferret rescue will be in attendance,good folk giving a lifeline to unwanted and mistreat ferrets .hopefully we'll get a good turn out of people(and dogs).best of luck to the people with qualified dogs and bitches and also with tickets for the grand prize draw.
