My boys are great most of the time , but when they start fighting it seems to get out of hand. I'm worried they will damage one another. Any suggestions?

Littermates are never a good idea but too late now! If they are two dogs (rather than bitches) it is not usually serious. They are just too evenly matched to settle well without sparring. The best match, for harmony, is different sexes and different breeds/sizes.

I would interrupt their boisterous behaviour and find them something else to do. Perhaps use a word such as "enough" and separate them. Put one out for a wee in the garden and then swap them over. If it starts again then interrupt and repeat. They should soon get the message that you do not tolerate such behaviour in the house. Dogs make a lot of noise but do not usually hurt each other. Bitches on the other hand can get very serious when they fall out with each other. After a while you should be able to stop them with just the word "enough". Remember to reward them when they are lying quietly!
