I wondered if anyone would like to participate in a thread where we post a photo from 'today's dog walk'?

This morning Timber and I walked a mile or so along a sandbank to what is called The Black Rock - basically a big black rock that sticks out of the sand! I took the photo at the start, if you look carefully you can just see the new Queensferry Crossing in the background.

Oh what a lovely picture!

We did not go for a walk today, we just played ball  in our field with the 5 girls, it was extremely windy and you could see the rain in the distance coming in our direction.

All of the girls were well puffed out and happy to jump into the car when the wind and rain arrived.

Great idea and great photo too!  I'd love to participate but Jimbo's walks are repetitive near where I live - we have 4 or five routes of at least a mile and he gets three walks a a day, two of which are in the dark now.  Occasionally at weekends we'll venture further afield in the car.  That said, we've just spent a couple of days up near north Wales in a little place I like to go, and here is a pic from one of our morning walks:

That's nice, but maybe just a bit too "spooky" for me !

No fields or countryside for us today, sadly, just a couple of miles of pavements. Still, he enjoyed himself :)

We went up onto the downs today, it was quiet windy but in sheltered sunny spots it was very pleasant . Dogs enjoyed themselves!

We went to a local loch with loads of bird life. I have a photo but the site won't upload (it's not too big, so I don't know why).

I hope you have told "Timber" what a lucky boy he is, having all of these lovely walks especially with so much of that wet stuff, "Water" .

Our girls have to jump into water tanks or old baths filled with water to get their "wet fix".

He hates the water. I don't know if it's because on one of his very first walks out, we were with a friend and her golden retriever, on a beach that had a bit of a slope. The retriever jumped in the water - not far from the edge but flank deep. T jumped in after her but flank deep for her was 6 inches under for him. He maybe would have hated water anyway but I don't suppose it helped. So, fast forward a couple of years and we were in Croatia and the water was warm. To get him used to swimming, in case he ever had to in an emergency, I would carry him out and gently get him used to it. I got to being able to have him in the water, I would hold him while he  got his buoyancy then let him paddle back to shore where Mr F was waiting. Maybe a distance of 15 feet, so not far but at least he had the hang of it. We resigned ourselves to the fact he could do it but was never going to like it. But a couple of weeks later he saw a lake with ducks! Ducks and squirrels were put on this earth with the sole purpose of tormenting dogs. He was off into the water like a shot. The ducks had flown but he kept going, looking for them. He got at least twice as far as he had ever swum before, and he still had to come back. Just as Mr F was telling me I was going to have to go in and get him, he finally responded to us calling him and came back. He hasn't swum since, he either gave himself a fright or realised ducks are just not worth it!

Sorry can't get my head around photos. Phone is very basic too :(

We tend to walk the footpaths around us unless we are away in the caravan :)

That was around 7.30am, a late walk for us!  Believe it or not, there were people swimming in the at the same time the day before - it was cold outside, let alone the water!

@JoanneF - Jimmy hates the water too - we took him to Fistral beach in Cornwall over the summer and he ran away from the sea - all 1cm of it coming in very slowly!

A nice idea Joanne.  I will try to remember to take my phone with me when we go out. We are very lucky to live in the middle of the South Downs with lots of lovely walks.  Evie loves the beach and will make a beeline for any water, cold & filthy she's not fussy.  Had recent holiday in North Devon and took this action shot of her having fun on the beach.

Nice pic Josie, where is that if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you! It's in Clevedon, North Somerset. Have you ever been?
