Having read the comments with regard to the Thurrock Meeting and having seen the difference a photo can make, at Seaham our dog Coral was involved on three different occasions where a photo was required to determine the outcome. How many times do the judges get it wrong ???? a nose is sufficient a margin to win by as was shown on the first photo at Seaham, a dead heat was the result of another and it was a head on the third time and all the judges apparently said they would have had it wrong without the help of a photo finish. How many titles have gone to the wrong dogs over the years without people knowing before cameras were used.

The phrase 'Got it on the nod' shows in horse racing where cameras are used from BOTH SIDES OF THE TRACK how a horse with his head down can snatch the decision from one with his head up.

What does everyone else think? Cameras at every meeting???

I have to agree with this, when you stand on the line you all can get a different dog as the winner, and i have seen dogs win but not get the race,?? as i am sure many others have??? so yes we should have a photo finish on the finish line for all races.......... ??? :p

cameras on lines are good ,but how many clubs could aford one ,i agree disicions are much fairer with a photo finish ,although not allways true ,depends whos looking at it :0 i can remember pigion in a photo finish against flying scotsman ,pigion won by a nose but never got the disicion ??? this was for a title. molly and andy were gutted at the time but its nice to know the main bodies have cameras for big avents .

i agree ,but there should also be half way judges,(that know what they are doing) ,as many times dogs have been disqualified for having a go,when really all they are doing is getting to the side were they like to run :D

Too true Neil, someone who knows what they are doing..... An adult would be a good starting point.

As for clubs affording cameras-fundraising and begging wouldn't go a miss...

Surprising what a few letters and phone calls can achieve.

Karen.

well steve this is my first time on here since last week but was at the souths open yesterday at fordinbridge and peter scott had his digi cam thing with him just as well there was a few close calls but when we looked on it they were right well they had to be as me and pat were line judges and im never wrong lol no but it is true it should be part of our equipment as much as we need a lure to race with.

Dont jump on me please as this comment may be wrong, but if your club is affiliated to the BWRA and you are running an event to BWRA rules, surely it is possible to Borrow the photo camera, after all the members have paid for it. Just a thought

Yeah i would have thought so too, surely it's not just kept for championships!

We have all just paid a one off fee of £5.00 to the BWRA for track improvements, could members not be asked again next year for a similar fee to help affiliated clubs equipt themselves with necessaries, a kind of kitty set up?????

Surely the BWRA would be in a better position to purchase a quantity of cameras than one club alone.

Just a thought also......I maybe wrong...so don't jump on me either.

Quote--- The BWRA was formed at a meeting held in the Golden Lion Hotel Yorkshire on June 3rd 1967.

The aims of the association being to promote greater friendship and understanding between the whippet racing clubs; :D

To give strenghth to the advancement of the sport;

To help clubs in dealings with local councils :( in negotiation for land :b and to control :) and standardise whippet racing. (Whippets-Rearing and Racing-Pauline Wilson)

Just a thought...

20p-50p extra added to entry fee at each meeting, raffle monies etc..
