My next champ show isn't until South Wales in July, I've decided to try to be a bit more selective show wise/judge wise!

The gent in question judged whippets here about 2 yrs back. Didn't do much of a job then either(but what do I know -he's had whippets for probably longer than some of us have been alive).

He put up brindles/partis that day so it mightn't have been the colour Dessie. Any whites being shown? He has a history with them doesn't he?

Hey!! I've known Caroline to put up a whole lineup of fawns!! When she judged us last year all but one of her final lineup were FAWN!!!

Can't remember, I was so unimpressed I have wiped what he actually did out of my memory banks. Probably blatantly facey if I was that unimpressed!!!

Entered and was really looking forward to it but at the last moment work has decided to hold a Managers conference on that day and for once being the boss means I cant get out of it :angry:

I entered 3 dogs too.

oh dear, from what ive read. poor little me doesnt stand a chance then, dont think i will bother going. how does one learn quickly about the judeing world. i mean how it works Tina

Tina, here's what I've learned over the past 3 years. Go under everybody who's close enough - esp if you've paid your money. You will find from experience and from others who likes your type and who doesn't, but at the end of the day it's experience for you and your dog and it gets you and your dog out there and recognised.

Last year I said 'stuff it' and entered everything we reasonably could. We didn't expect to win much, but we figured it would get us seen and eventually maybe noticed. Well we actually DID have a good showing season as well as getting seen.

Once you've gotten out there and got the experience then start to be a bit more choosy.

I apologise if you already have loads of experience, just sharing what I've learned.

I see dog showing mostly now as a chance to meet my mates who have the same love of Whippets as I do /

Of course i go hoping to win but as we know thats not always poss :b ,

Even the `faces ` dont get placed sometimes

I know it does come as a bit of a shock to some of them not to win a class or get placed but surely EVERYTHING they show CANT be the best ( or can it !!)

Just enjoy showing your dogs and dont forget

Quite a lot of well known people got nothing at SCCA. Sometimes they win when they shouldnt and sometimes they dont when perhaps they should!

ah thanks, yes you all have much, much more experience than me. i do realy enjoy it if i get placed or not. ive only been showing for 10 months. and enjoyed every minuete of it im going now you are right i need lots of experience thanks you are all so kind. TINA

Anyone who does go MUST get there early.

Jack Peden does not hang about when judging ALL judging was done by lunchtime when he judged at SWKA.

If I remember correctly :cheers: Martin Sanders' dog was made up there and Arjuna Jack Daniels getting the DCC & BOB.
