The Pump House - Dog Friendly Gastropub
Situated on the banks of the Cumberland basin, The Pump House is an integral part of Bristol’s shipping history. Built in 1870 by Thomas Howard to house a hydraulic pump, it powered the entirety of the bridges and lock systems throughout the harbourside and waterways of Bristol.
It was replaced by the existing hydraulic engine house in the 1880’s, and since then has been everything from an abattoir to Bristol’s biggest gin bar!
