Hound: The Hound dog was used to detect prey using either sight or scent. The group is divided into two main categories: Sighthounds, who follow their prey predominantly by speed and Scenthounds, Who follow prey by tracking its scent (these dogs have endurance but are not fast runners!) and some hounds do a bit of both! Best described as dignified, aloof but trustworthy companions.


Examples include: Basset hound, Blood hound, Dachshund, Grey hound, Saluki, Rhodesian Ridgeback and Finnish Spitz.
