Yesterday the Melbourne Greyhound Club had a charity day to raise money for the Royal Childrens Hospital. They had invited the whippet club to provide 2 fields of whippets to race as part of the entertainment. All up we had 8 whips, each field of 4 raced twice, a sprint & a distance.

My 3 Penny, Kibah & Feather were in the first race which Penny won in fine style. Feather 3rd & Kibah 4th. Whippets have never raced at "the Meadows" before so I've been telling Penny that she's the first whippet IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD!!! to race & win at the Meadows. And Kibah? well she's the first to ever run last so she's still first at something ;)

The race caller found it pretty amusing I think to call 'the little creatures' as he referred to them  but was quite impressed with Penny & said she 'went up the straight like Lonhro' Aussies should know who that is. I took it as a compliment anyway.

Awww geee, thanks everyone who read & commented with kind words of congratulations, it really means alot to me.

Orrrrh sorry, i hadn't seen this post!

Sounds like you had fun, is it on a greyhound track i take it? Did you not get no pics?

thanks Vicki,

yes it was a greyhound track, the main one in Victoria. Usually the Greyhound people wont have a bar of us amatuer whippet racers so it was a pretty big deal that we were even invited along. No I didn't get pics but there could be some on our whippet racing web site in a few days that another member took. I'll post the link if there is. Although from the lack of interest around here I doubt if many would bother to look :( I did buy a video of the races though which I've already watched heaps. I'll have it worn out soon.

Sorry Linda I did start to write a reply as I think that it's great but I'm not having a good week. I seem to have run out words and what I'd written just came over as ............. well rather wet really. Didn't really say what I was wanting to.

Yours isn't the only post that I've not replied to because of my lack of inspiration recently.

I was actually thinking about your dogs and what they'd done today whilst driving my car.

I'd be interested in the link. Lucky you to have got a video. I'd love to be able to watch my Whizz race but never have. Well except for the odd occasion when he's run on a bend. Which is why I love watching him do it. It's the only time that I see him side on. I get the head end and Alan just gets to see his bum.

 sorry, i was meaning to reply.........I bet you had a great day,( and i'm glad your Whippets did well for you in front of the Greyhound owners ;) )......I'd love to see the pictures when they've been put on the racing web site aswell please ......

thanks Beejay & Hannah,

Sorry you have had a bad week Beejay, I hope it get better for you soon.

I will post the link if & when some decent pics are put on the site.
