Does anyone know the best way of cleaning a Lurchers teeth? he,s being marked down for them and the last resort is the vets

What do you feed him?

I foster alot of rescue dogs and they come here with stained teeth from being fed food with artificial colourants in it or wet processed food. After a couple of weeks eating a raw diet with plenty of chicken wings, carcasses and raw bones their teeth clean up nicely :thumbsup:

It also helps to clean them once a week with doggy toothpaste for a quicker result

Is it safe to give raw chicken bones? My Lurcher is also a rescue case so not sure what he was fed on, we tend to stay away from raw bones as the other dogs always get agressive with bones. I,ll have to put him on his own with one and try.

Yes, it's safe to feed raw chicken wings (I always freeze and defrost first just to eliminate any "nasties" although probably not necessary with chicken so much as it is with beef. Completely natural way for a dog to eat

It's cooked bones which are the problem because they can splinter and then cause problems in the digestive tract, so avoid cooked bones :thumbsup:

takes me 10mins to brush 7 sets off teeth daily better than a trip to the vets :thumbsup: and as jane says plenty raw bones in the weeks sorted

My boys are fed dry complete. Teeth cleaned daily with a brush and Animal Healths tea tree toothpaste and no problems here.

three days in of raw chicken and bones and I cant believe how much difference its made already.Thanks for the advise.
