Hi there. As a result of a second pneumothorax, Alfie has a had a lung lobe removed from the right and a small part of his left lung removed. This has involved a full sternotomy. Has anybody had their dog having such major thoracic surgery. We have been told to keep his movements restricted but this is easier said than done!!!!

Sorry to hear of your dog's problems.

Keeping a dog calm post surgery can be quite a challenge. They have no idea that they should take it easy!

You could try feeding him all his food using some of the food puzzle toys on the market. Kong is the most famous but there are lots out there. While you are sourcing them you could scatter his food in garden for him to scent out and eat gradually.

If you look on the KikoPup site on YouTube you will see lots of training tips for teaching a dog to do tricks etc. If you choose ones that require the dog to remain stationery, like playing dead for example, you can tire your dog's brain out so that he rests more.
