hi it has taken me ages but i think i wont to show my dog can any one tell me of any shows that would be good for starting.

Hi Terry :))

I cant tell you exactly which shows would be close for you to go to as I live in N.I,but any of the open ones should be fine to get your foot in the door.

Loads of luck for lots of future success :luck: :luck:

i live in sittingbourne kent but the only problems i have is my dog sometimes barks at other dogs and he is over the standard hight

Hi Terry

If you feel you & him are perhaps not quite ready for the BIG shows ie: Championship & Open shows maybe you could have some fun to begin with at the Companion Shows?

As the weather gets warmer there are loads held near you, there is always an AV Hound or AV Open Class you can enter him in, they are great fun & a good way of gaining experience for you both & meeting lots of nice people so that if you then want to progress to the more formal shows, you will both feel more confident.

Just a suggestion, but if you prefer to go straight to an Open Show i know there are several held in the Kent area, especially Maidstone & Gillingham.

well i dont no what to do i think the only shows i wont to enter him in are for just whippets because he is nervours around most other dogs but whippets

i did take him to ring classes but it was full of dogs and there wasnt the room so really i need someone to teach me the ropes

Well, that does limit you as the only shows you can go to where there will be ONLY whippets are the Whippet Club Breed Shows.

All General Open Shows & Championship Shows schedule classes for all different breeds of dogs as well as whippets.

You can buy a weekly paper called Dog World that has all up & coming Shows listed in the back pages where you can ring & get a schedule so you can enter.

Alternatively you could contact any one of the Whippet Breed Clubs & find out dates for all their Open & Championship Shows for this coming year.

Good idea, very sensible.

Once he has gained his confidence with the other whippets hopefully he will not be so nervous of other dogs too.

Good luck to you both :luck:
