I rehomed a King Charles one year old dog as previous owners didn't look after her, I am seriously at my wits end everytime I let her out in the garden she is constantly barking :( I took her for a walk today and it was a complete utter nightmare she barked at everyone we walked past and she went so mad barking at a passing by dog , she wouldn't stop dragging me she was constantly pulling on the lead to the point I thought it was going to snap :( I just don't think I'm cut out for this I rehoused her because I thought these dogs were calm friendly dogs I have two children and one on the way and know just don't no what to do :(

Is their a training club near you that uses positive methods? If so have a word with them with a view to taking your dog along for socialisation. It may take some time but with careful guidance she can learn that other dogs and people are fine.

As Biker John says, she is probably unsocialised so she finds the world a scary place and this makes her bark! A class might be too much for her at the moment and she may be better with a one to one with a trainer in her own home then you could learn how to help her cope. If you look on www.apdt.co.uk you should be able to find someone local to you who will help. If she is food motivated take some high value stuff on your walks (she should be getting at least two a day) and before she starts to react to strangers get her attention on to you and reward her with a small piece of sausage or cheese etc. At her age she is still a pup so it shouldn't take too long to turn her behaviour around but you do need to put in the work and have lots of patience! Don't leave her in the garden to bark as you don't want her practising that behaviour, interact with her, play games, put her food in treat balls and Kongs so she has something to occupy her mind.
