Shortly have to take my friends Newfie to groomers, now she is a lovely dog - to look at :D but she whuffs to high heaven :x (think its something to do with the heavy coat - wee ending up seeping into it), anyway...any ideas how do I get the smell out the car once I drop her off? It does linger once she's gone, even if I chuck the sheet she's been sitting on. Appreciate any advice

Put plastic under the sheet so the smell doesn't get through. :x Febreeze is good and leave the windows open for a while (w00t)

and a couple of new magic trees  hand one on the heating vent and blast it out for a minute the scent will be that strong your eyes will water but at least you'll forget about the doggy smell

We use a cracking product from Christies grooming supplies.

It's their own brand animal cologne (baby powder scented) they do other scents too but I find this one the best. ;)

We use it on our poodles whenever they are between baths, especially at this time of the year as everything stinks :x whenever they get wet,as well as being able to use it on the dogs it can be used as a fabric and air freshener,so use it in the car and sofa, dog beds, mats etc. :)

It really works

Not much use to you at the moment as you have to get the dog shortly :( but maybe good for the future journeys?? :- " I know they do have a mail order catalogue

P.s I have tried everything  and nothing worked until this :( and this smells lovely too  very liveable with ;) mind you most things smell better than wet dog :x

 Me dears

Can of Neutradol best i could do in a hurry-close to Ferbreeze! Freezin' today but braced myself to have the windows open

Will have a look at that site for animal cologne :thumbsup:might solve a Christmas present dilemma or two :p sounds wonderful stuff...

NB. I dropped off smelly dog (and got the abandoned pleading eyes on the way out  ), my friend gets the (ooooh, get me out of here, I'm sooooooo pleased you've come to rescue me treatment :) on collection) and a non-smelly car (w00t) .

Pleased i dont have to visit those grooming places myself with my own - the prices (w00t) !!! Crivvens I could get the whole family's hair cut and blow dried with change for a takeway on the road back for what they charge for one dog! Mind you if they all smell like the one I dropped off they deserve the money :p And did get a wee smile in the process, to get an idea of time for my friend to collect her I asked how long till the dog would be ready, the receptionist pondered this for some time-even pausing to shift her gum from one side to the other, several times...eventually declaring "I dunno...a Newfoundland's a big dog"!!! Em, talent for stating the obvious a requirement of the job I presume

Glad to have been of some help to someone :- " feeling kinda redundant round here :b everyone is soooo knowledgeable

PMSL. I meant leave them open when you got home, not freeze to death (w00t)  I think you deserve a nice present for taking your friends dog. How about a bottle of perfume?

The smell of some of these car deodorisers sometimes smells worse than the dogs :x and makes me quite nausius at times ......its good to see what other people use.

A drop of Lavender on a little bag hanging near my air vents - is lovely too.
