I have a 10 month old cocker spaniel and I just wanted to ask how much they should sleep as it’s driving me mad thinking we should be doing something with him all the time .
He has a set routine through the week as we both work (my wife works from home) it’s at weekends is the problem as we are around more we do take him out for a run probably around an hour in the morning and shorter in the afternoon but the rest of the day he is chilling ,is this normal for a dog ?sometimes he is chewing his bone or just sleeping?
He does seem happy he will jump down off the sofa and look at me and that tells me I need to interact with him .

If he has plenty of energy when he's out and about, and is generally happy, I wouldn't worry - I'd thank your stars that you have a chilled spaniel rather than a Duracell bunny.

He has loads of energy when out and loves his walks/run . I guess you are right we have a chilled Spaniel then ,I think it’s because they are a lively breed it makes me concerned we should be doing more .
Thank you for your response.

mine the same (11 year jackshi) culls up on my chair and chills out for ages, till I put my jumper on and then its my walk time then like a pup.
