Hello all

As always im still learning being a first time whippet owner, & its come to my attention how much my Louie is sleeping at the moment. Im not sure whether it is a combination of the cold weather (just wanting to snuggle down on the sofa), or because he is calming down a little (although he is still only nearly 8 mths old).

How much on average do whippets sleep? Do they sleep more in the colder weather? Your thoughts appreciated as always.

Thanks

Julie

Yes :D Quite normal

Mine are far more likely to snuggle up and stay quiet on bad weather days and they also sleep more in the winter :)

What a lovely life, eh? :D

Yes, it's alright for some! Relieved that this is normal behaviour.

Thanks Jane

I have a whippet that gets out of bed in the morning, has his breakfast and then looks at me until I open the bedroom door for him. He gets into our beds and stays there until hubby put the lead on and has to pull him out of the bed.

oh your whippie is quite normal...........Gypsy would sleep all day if i let her -_-

as i type she is underneath her furry blanket which she dragged upstairs to my bed...........she has been for a very long walk this morning.........so i doubt i will see until dinnertime :teehee:

Yep same her, the girls get up have breakfast then

go back to bed, have a run, have a sleep, have

another run, have their food and sleep all evening :huggles:

one of ours...not particularly old, is awoken at 6-30am-let outside-then it scarpers upstairs into our bed and will quite happily stop there till 3-30pm if allowed :- "

Reading all of your comments here, im glad im not the only one having their whippie on the bed. I tried to be strong for months, but about a month ago, when the weather was turning cold at night, i gave in (think i knew it would eventually happen). Now Louie is a permanent fixture there at night! :b

Same they get woken up to be let out for toilet and breakfast then they go back to bed and dont see a peak till they woken up for there run then they come home have a bita food sleep for a couple of hours woken up for dinner have some dinner then family time so usually have a mad hour with toys out and chasing tail then about 9:30 they instinctly go to sleep as i go to bed at that time and they curl up on the bed at my legs (phoebe) or under the covers (pepa).

very lazy lifestyle. If only we could have it the same ehhh

Just wonderful! Sounds like your whippies definitely love their life, & what a carefree & content life they have.
