My love of sight hounds started when I rescued a one year old whippet. I wasn’t looking for a sight hound but there was something about the gentle intense look Slip gave me that made me realise he was the one. Since then we have acquired Penny a whippet with some greyhound and saluki in her. I honestly don’t think I’d ever be able to own anything but a sight hound now. All dogs are beautiful but my heart is owned by them!

Welcome - there's lots of sighthound lovers here, they are a bit special after all! I love the photo of Penny in her carnival outfit:)

Lovely photos!:) welcome from me too

And welcome from me - another sighthound fan. Yours look so lovely.

And from us. We found our first whippet on the road - starving, almost skeletal and exhausted. The vet said that she was circa 6 months old. We searched for her owners everywhere locally but with no success. The dog warden agreed that, if no one claimed her within 30 days, we could keep her. We received a lot of help from our local whippet rescue lady who said that it was highly likely that ‘Poppy’ had been abandoned by travellers. Poppy and her subsequent adopted companion, Blue, are no longer with us but we took on Mabel in November ‘19. We were her third home. She came with a lot of stress. She now has much more confidence, a bosom friend to George, the cat (another rescue). She’s with us for keeps. Arrived as a 19 kg nervous porker and is now a happy (spoilt) 15 kg beauty. Like yourself we’re drawn to sighthounds - such lovely, gentle things. Not quite a dog - more catlike. Keep the faith. This photo is of our first two - Blue and Poppy. Plus Basil (about to fall on Poppy’s head).

That sounds like a good thing :(
