Basenji - bitch (entire)

Red (bright tan) & white. White chest. Tight curled tail. Fox Terrier sized.

Prick ears. White feet. Microchipped.

Went missing 31st January, 2004 about 10.30 am in Eltham, South East London.

Possible sighting Black Fen area of Sidcup/Bexley Heath. Battersea

informed - reference 46450.

Contact (phone) 0208 850 5321

Added 31st January, 2004 LD2428

The police are refusing to be helpful and the area where the Basenjis _may_

have been sighted is not good news.

Ah but the tale of how she was found and what happened to her is rather interesting. One lucky little dog having been found by a very nice and honest person and who thought about contacting Battersea.

>The Basenji was found in a pond, panicking and unable to get out, but

OK.

The person who found her managed to get a spare lead around her neck and

to

pull her out of the water.

She was taken home, dried and comforted, and fed a meal - the finder

then

called the Police - who didn't want to know. . . .

The lady was going to keep her until Monday (longer if she wasn't

claimed)

and then take her to a Vet to see if she was microchipped. But on a

hunch,

she also phoned Battersea who made the immediate connection and phoned

the

owner.

She found Rosa well fed and happy and playing with the finder's own

elderly

dogs. The finder was going to take her along with her own dogs to the

seaside today (Sunday) - and would love to have kept her.

This was a happy ending, but I have to wonder how many people _do_ keep

'found dogs' - thereby causing anguish to their original owners ?

I often wonder that

It's typical the police weren't interested.... they where probably trying to catch real criminals; like people who are parked on yellow lines..... :ermm:

I'm glad the owner and dog are reunited now
