I am sick to death with our local Sainsbury's, only 3 miles from home (very convenient) hmm:mad:
We have a large store with about 12 (maybe more) manned checkouts, and quiet a large number of DIY checkouts.
Seldom are there many of the manned checkouts all open, this creates queues of people with trolleys full of produce waiting to pass through, and frequently a long wait in the queue too:mad:!
Sainsbury's have installed a lot of the DIY checkouts, I assume they are trying to push their customers into processing their own shopping through this DIY process. Well I suppose that's ok if you want to. o_O
My really BIG issue about this is, that the checkout girls wages are included in the price of everything that we purchase in the store, so where's the deduction or my payment for me processing my own shopping through their DIY checkout's.:mad:

I went across town yesterday evening to our large tesco store (not as close as Sainsbury's) to get some toilet rolls, (24 Andrex for £8.00) I bought 2 packs! and a Litre of Baileys coffee flavour, Sainsbury's don't have the coffee flavour and it's only £12 at Tesco.
When I got to the checkouts there were loads of checkouts with staff either processing customers goods, or some even just waiting for the next person, there was also a choice of using the DIY checkouts, some of which were being used by customers.
There were NO WAITING queues to be seen anywhere and I got straight through very quickly.

WELL DONE TESCO. 10/10

I agree, if I am doing the work for them I want my share of the pay!

I am sorry but i use self service tills all the time in asda or morrisons. ...
One Good point for sainsburys they are not selling fireworks this year ...lets hope the other supermarkets follow

I may have to go across town to Tesco again and buy another bottle of baileys for Christmas, as this bottle may not last very long! Maybe I should get one for my birthday, that's before Christmas. Oh wow, that means 2 more bottles:eek::eek::rolleyes::oops: ha ha.

I buy an own brand baileys ( less sweet) on winter evenings I have a small glass in place of a pudding or treat.. yum

You have a small glass, what's that?

For myself I will not use the self service check outs, I refuse to do workers out of their jobs.

To be fair, you could say the same about the spinning jenny, printing press, sewing machine... I like self-service tills :)

Morrisons are selling a litre of Bailys for £10 instead of £20 at the moment I bought 1 yesterday it's supposed to be for Xmas but don't think it will last until then:D

Do you all stick to the classic or do you go for the 'special' flavours. in Germany I get (own brand) a choice of classic, hazelnut ( leaves a dry aftertaste) mint or toffee.. The baileys they had in classic amerreto(sp) and strawberry plus lactose free..

I like the coffee flavoured one, this is the one I have to go to Tesco to get.
I do find the coffee a bit strong so I have to get a normal bottle and mix it half and half.

The first time I had Baileys was at uni, and being typical students, it was served in a mug. I didn't realise it was alcoholic - I thought it was just a posh sort of chocolate milkshake... I find it a bit sickly now.

Well on the good side our local Sainsbury's is refusing to sell fireworks this year. :) Let's hope it's the start of a trend.

Perhaps it depends on what time you shop. I go early at 8 and our Tescos has no one at the till. Unless you make a huge fuss they wont open one either.
