hi guys,

im kinda new at this, so if i post this is the wrong spot please bear with me. i live in the US, we moved here several years ago, but i am considering coming back home for uni. (scotland) i have a fawn brindle and white whippet who is an am/can champ and he is moderate size, slightly chunkie, but not overly so, an hes very athletic. i was wondering if anyone could tell me wat 'type' of dog the judges are looking at lately, and if anyone knows how i go about registering him wit the kennel club.

aside from that i was wondering if show dogs over there lure course, and which breeders breed for both, if any.

plzzzz help! :w

thank you very much,

:) Hi, you will need to contact the Kennel Club and they will give you all the required information. The one thing that you must absolutely have before even entering a show is your Authority To Compete (ATC) number. The Kennel Club email address is info@the-kennel-club.org or the phone number is 0870 606 6750. It costs £15 to register an imported dog at the moment plus £12 for the ATC number. Hope this helps. If you phone ask for the registrations department when you get through.

A number of people show and lure course. In Scotland both Liz Third and Annette Skelley do. Liz is a member of this forum.

Hi! Is he moderate size by the English or American Standard? The top of the American Standard is two inches taller than the English top I believe. However many people on this board say that there are many oversized dogs in the ring in the UK at present. Sadly it is the same here in Australia (my opinion) depending on where you are.

If you have a look back through this Showing section you will see many pics of winners at recent shows in the UK - you may be able to glean soemthing of type from that - however every judge is different and I don't know if one could say that all of the UK judges looking for one type - each to his own.
