Rue Update

Firstly Thanks to everyone for their support over the last few days it has been greatly appreciated...

Rue is hanging in there! feeding chicken build-up by syringe. He went to the vets yesterday afternoon and was given an appointment this morning.. He had a test to see how his heart is, as he has an irregular heartbeat now! he also had to have a blood test, could not get any from his legs, had to take it from his neck. Test will be back in the morning. Vet thinks that little Rue might have Addisons Disease? I hope that he is right, and that he can be treated in time. Again a very big thank you to you all. How ill was he/she when they were diagnosed? and how long did it take for the treatment to begin to work?

well im going back about 20 odd years hun so i guess treatment has become far more advanced in that time.it was my liver/tan bitch dieta who had it.she had a lot of coat loss and was overweight and had problems with cysts on her feet.there were other symptoms but i cant remember them now,but she was diagnosed and treated for addisons.i think its nothing terrible these days they can treat it and can keep it under control with drugs.as long as they know whats wrong with Rue and are able to treat it thats the greatest battle won.its worse when they dont know whats wrong and the dog cant tell them how he feels and whats hurting so that makes diagnosis much more hard.its a question of trying and ruling out various illnesses.thats the worst bit.once they know whats wrong they can treat it.Rue should start to respond to treatment quite quickly.fingers crossed for quick recovery :luck: :thumbsup: :luck:

Addison's disease is a hormonal disorder; it is a chronic adrenal insufficiency, or hypocortisolism. Cushing’s disease is the opposite = overactive adrenal gland.

Addison's is not curable but is managed by a life long medication. As soon as the vets get the dose right Rue should start feeling lot better.
