Roscrea, Co Tipperary yesterday, was the venue for a great days racing hosted by Shane Lee and his brilliant committe and helpers. The alarm clock buzzed at 4.00am, feet out on the floor,up and away to join up with the rest of the crewe at Newry. Met up there with Bluebell and her husband Patsy Mc Coy who led the way, Nigel Greer and Billy Craig, stopped briefly up the road for breakfast, and then headed for Roscrea, Co Tipperary. As we were approching Roscrea, our crewe was joined by Martin Tucker and his wonderful son. Arriving at the venue, we were steered into our parking place in the field by none other than Tango (Kieran Young ) who was there for a family day out with his beautiful partner Collette, and of course his daughters Joanne and little Alex and dog in tow also.
The weather was like a summers day, with a slight nip in the air.The centre of County Tipperary is known as 'the Golden Vale', a fertile stretch of land in the basin of the River Suir, which crosses the county from north to south. County Tipperary has a strong sporting history and is home to the Gaelic Games of Hurling, Gaelic Football,Camogie and Handball, and great Hunting Men with their top winning racing dogs. The quality of the dogs running yesterday at this venue in my estimation was a hundred percent. All winners.

Billy Craigs dog " Sandy " came very close to winning yesterday. This dog is a force to be reckoned with, and a winner waiting in the wings. Billy was so proud of " Sandy " yesterday, as were we all. Sandy gave the opposition a race for his money in the semi final yesterday. Well done Sandy and Billy. Nigel Greer and Billy Craig went home two very happy men yesterday, knowing they have a star in the making.
A big congratulations to all these heat winners and any other winners I did not manage to get. Thank you all for making the day so enjoyable and exciting.
And finally, a big thank you to " Bluebell " Deidre Mc Coy for taking the photographs, and recording everybodys moment of glory.Deidre you are gold dust, and thank you for all those lovely memories in photographs. What can I say about Shane Lee and his committe and helpers. You organised and produced a great days racing in a very professional way and held your racing in an excellent venue. Your hospitality was so much appreciated. It was nice to see Toilets at the venue, which gives the women folk and children dignity and privacy.( Show organisers take Note ) Also, please convey our thanks to the lady, who is the owner of the field where the venue was held, who introduced herself to me and my friends and offered us tea and refreshments. It was so kind of her. A lovely lady. A great family day out was had by all. So So tired today, but already looking forward to next years Racing day out.Well done Shane.
