i have first cross greyhound bedlington retrieves dummy really well but kills rabbit and leaves it any advice

he'll get the hang of it sooner or later. just keep catching em and it will come to him.

Try adding some weight & rabbit skin to the dummy that is retreived practice little & often :luck:

This is a good idea and after he is doing this with no problem,try him with the real thing,some of them take a while to get used to the feel of the rabbit in their mouth it is so much different from a dummy,even a covered one.We found that a fresh dead rabbit used as a dummy worked really well and all ours now retrieve well without mouthing the kill.

We have always trained ours with a squeeky toy (usually a favourite one) in a rabbit skin, not the most pleasant job sewing up rabbit skins but the dogs do eventually get used to the fur in their mouths.

How old is the dog? Dont worry you will soon have a maniac dog that wants and brings you everything :thumbsup:
