Hi All,

We are looking to get a puppy in the spring. This would be our first so I would like to do a lot of research before the new family member arrives.

I would be grateful for any recommendations on good books relating to positive training and general dog care.

Thanks in advance.

Easy Peasy Puppy Squeezy is getting good reviews.

What type of dog are you hoping to get? Are you after a rescue, or investigating breeders? (That's just me being nosy, BTW;) - but then again there are so many bad breeders, it's important to know how to select a good one.)
Hi JudyN,

Thanks for the recommendations, I will have a look at them.

We are considering a Spanish Water Dog. I have been researching breeders For a month or so and only contacted ones listed by the SWD Club and KC. I’m planning to speak with some this week and arrange visits March/April.

Is the SWD very popular all of a sudden? wasn't there someone else here recently thinking about getting one?

Portuguese Water Dogs are quite popular in US...
Anyway - awesome! Good luck with the puppy. Great that you are doing the research ahead of time, and staying on the positive reinforcement track!
