Hi

This might seem a daft question but why do some people use a raised dog bed?
Are they used for particular breeds?
Thanks
J

I think they can be useful if your house has draughts at floor level (under doors etc.).

All of my lurchers have various raised beds from a home made wooden one with a memory foam mattress...and a henry wag raised bed with a dog cushion on top ...even the jack russells prefer a raised bed ...raised beds were always recommended for larger breeds ...mine also have the choice of 2 leather settees

We have one for Harri - we have hard cold floors and I was finding a puddle of condensation under his bed every morning. We made him a futon style base which solved the problem immediately.

Our dog often comes back from a walk wet and muddy and however much we towel dry him, we can’t get him totally dry. We were finding that his bed would get damp and then start to smell and washing the covers and the cushioning never seemed to make any difference. Eventually, we bought a HiK9 raised bed at a dog show. It has been a great purchase – no more smelly dog beds! I think the raised design and the mesh cover allows better air circulation around the bed. Another advantage is they can easily be dismantled and don’t take up much room of you are travelling. Previous dog beds seemed to fill the entire car (mind you we do have a rather large dog!).

Mine have a king sized bed with feather quilt. Luxury living,it's that good they just about leave enough room for me to get in.... selfish little gits

Jasper has the choice of a floor-level bed next to us, or the bed in the spare room - most nights he chooses the bed in the spare room. Which is a pain because he always whines to come in with us at about 6am, and I can't leave the door open as my son is nocturnal and about as quiet as a herd of elephants.
