Racing in Berkshire

I live in Berkshire.  Can anyone tell me when and where the next race meeting nearest to me is being held?

Most non-pedi racing takes place inthe north and midlands and our season hasn`t started yet .

There is an open on at Worcester on 22 April , Portsmouth on 13 May, and there are a couple of opens at Stevenage in the summer , although I have no details as yet .

Henlow bend club runs meetings about once a month - check in the The Countrymans Weekly .

At this stage I just wanted to go and watch, being as I'm a complete newcomer.  The Portsmouth meeting sounds promising - where is it held?  Is it at the greyhound track?

The open in Portsmouth is a club open and last year was held at Fordingbridge .It`s a straight open I believe but as I have never ventured that far south I can`t tell you any more and no details are published re: this years open as yet so , sorry, can`t tell you any more.

Pedigree racing is more popular in the south - it maybe worth trying to find one off their opens to spectate .

There are regular pedigree race meetings at Andover and Oxford, both of which I would have thought were reasonably close to you Lorraine.

Andover club runs at Middle Wallop airfield (roughly every fortnight) - you will need to contact the club secretary to book in (even as a spectator) as security clearance is required to get access to the airfield. The next meeting is 18 February.

Oxford club run at Horsepath Lane (Sports ground) Nr Cowley, Oxford. They usually run alternate weeks to Andover.
