I was wondering why there are special racing classes at some show's, for racing Whippet's if all that happen's is that the racing dog's (that the classes were started for) arn't really ever placed  ........Surley alot of Whippet's are able to obtain a passport but this dosn't mean they are any good at racing :- " ......I personally thought this class was to try and encourage the racer's into showing their dog, not for us to spend money for nothing  .......Also instead of a passported Whippet being able to win any old race at a WCRA affilliated club to qualify for Cruft's (as we all know with the correct H/C ANY dog is able to win a race), .......wouldn't it be better if to qualify you had to win a race at an open each year (ie a heat, semi ....= a race) and that the winner's of final's qualified for Cruft's for life ?.......Just an idea as it's a shame as there are some great looking racing dog's out there

Yes, I agree. If you are going to make winning a race a qualification for entry into the classes, then it should mean something. Winning a race at an open, even if it was just a heat, would at least prove some ability on the dogs part. Being able to win any race at a club is meaningless. Merely holding a passport nonly proves the dog is under the height limit. It doesn't even prove its been cleared for racing.

That kind of idea will get you accused of using common sense :- "
