Puppy toilet training advice

We have a 11 week old puppy.

I am regularly taking her into the garden to go to the toilet and she does go (not consistently) but more often she gets distracted playing that when we go back into the house she wees or poos inside instead!

Help what can I do?

Make sure you have the door closed so that she can tell the difference between inside and outside. Pick up all paper and puppy pads.

Take her out after eating, after sleeping, after playing and any time she looks distracted!

When you take her to the garden be very boring until she toilets. Give her a fantastic treat immediately. Be delighted. Do not wait for her to come to you. It must be linked, in her mind, with toileting. If she does not toilet then do not give her the run of the house but just keep a very close eye on her until you think she needs to go. Only give her the run of the house when you know she is empty.

If you are busy and she is crate trained then pop her into her crate and give her a chew toy until you are ready to take her to the garden again.

You should see her looking for you to take her outside and give her a treat for toileting before long!
