Hi, Finn is 17 weeks and raw fed (mainly Honeys). Until this week he has gobbled down his food. Then he stopped eating the lamb, but still wolfed down everything else. Today he's refusing the duck, although got very excited when I mixed some pumpkin puree in, and licked it all off. And he's very interested in our food (which he doesn't get) so obviously hungry!

Is he getting fussy? Can it happen that quickly? Could it be teething, he is yet to lose any baby teeth? He's fine in himself, jumping around, playing, so doesn't seem to be unwell. Toilets seem fine, odd one a little squishier, but he has that occasionally anyway.

Thanks

ive always held that if he gets hungry enough he'll eat it.

Hmmm... could be teething. My feeling is for puppies/young dogs the most important thing is to get enough nourishment into them to aid growth- if you've got things he will eat, feed that. I never have a battle of wills with mine over food. I had an old rescue boy years ago that WOULD NOT EAT KIDNEY! So I gave up even though it was the best fit-for-humans fresh lamb's kidney. They like what they like. I've got one at the moment that won't do raw fish.

I rotate and change constantly - from raw, to cooked wet food to kibble. Harri is an inconsistent eater though, we go for days with him eating practically nothing, then he'll eat solidly twice a day for a week! His weight is stable and correct for his breed so I've given up worrying about it.

Jasper's not keen on raw liver & offal. His minces are mostly mixed with chicken mince, but if a mix looks particularly offally, I'll mix it with a different variety. So if Finn is keen on, e.g., chicken, I'd mix a lamb or duck with a chicken meal, and then feed them over two meals.

Thanks everyone. Normal service seems to have been resumed. I persevered for about a day, gave in and changed 1 meal, then he suddenly started eating the other stuff again. Maybe bored. Not sure if we'd got the meat out a couple of days in a row and not realised (lots of other stuff happening at the moment). But Phew! :) Now just the fireworks to deal with!

At 17 weeks your puppy has probably started changing his teeth. Have a look at the little small ones at the front.
How many feeds are you giving him now, you may be offering him more food than he wants, some puppies at this age are often quiet happy with just two feeds.
Raw is a really good food and our dogs and puppies can process so much goodness from this food. You can always try cutting his meals back a bit for a while untill he shows that he is interested again . A healthy puppy is often hungry and looking for the next meal.

Do you give him training treats, it is possible that he is filling up on these and not wanting his proper meals. ( huh, kids, who would have them;) )
