Once again I'm asking for your advice, and you all seem to have a wealth of experience with whippets. I need a suitable collar for my puppy when I change from the tiny standard pet shop bought puppy collar and lead. I intend to get her used to a lead indoors and in the garden until she is able to explore the world outside. I would appreciate your comments on the various types of whippet collars. I have seen martindales and they look as if they would be the type of thing I would need but can you get ones small enough for a young pup? Obviously measuring her neck isn't an option as she will be a growing girl. Thanks shemeg. :b

dog moda does really nice collars, I got Eskil's first proper collar from there when he was 5 months old, was a bit loose at first, but they also do italian greyhound sizes which are smaller. they're made from the softest leather and padded on the inside.

now I ordered a new collar from the scandinavian brand Hurtta, although they are not hound collars as such, they are the same width as whippet collars, also soft and padded (though not leather) with a safe fastening and come in either half check or clip.

Have a look on ebay for a puppy martingale - we bought them for our litter when they left for their new homes, I think they were only a few pounds each - ideal until a posh adult martingale is needed. :D
