My 10 week old puppy has a fenced playpen and is an angel when in the pen. She is very calm when I'm in there with her - no biting and just plays gently.
However when she leaves the pen and comes into the living room she seems to have a personality change (!) And goes manic - biting and scratching anyone in her way!! I don't want to leave her in the pen all the time and would love any advice. Ive tried ignoring when she bites and praising good behaviour but it's not working!

If she is 10 weeks old, you have probably had her for about 2 weeks so you may find it takes a bit longer.

Then, have you seen this thread?

Puppy biting

Thank you. Definitely helpful.
Yes, had her for 2 weeks so I know it's just early days.

Puppies experience 80% of the world through their mouths.:D This is a brand new little animal trying to find out about where she lives. They do nip and taste things- as well as jumping all over them and destroying them! Does she have plenty of varied things to chew, play with in her pen? It's a good idea to change them often. Also put toys out in the garden for a couple of hours so they bring in fresh smells which she will be interested in. And how long is she left in the pen?

She sleeps in the pen at night and has probably been in there for 6/7 hours or so during the day while I work. It's just strange that I can play with her in the pen and she's very calm and interacts well. Then when she's out of there she goes into self destruct mode and won't listen to anything

Aw you take her out every hour ...thats a bit different but its still a long time pups need entertaining and i expect that is why she goes mad when being free!!!!
Have you given her a kong whilst in her pen ...

Yeah she has lots of toys in there and gets lots of attention! It's just really to stop her from chewing wires and things when I'm working

Run your wires and furniture legs through plastic pipes from the DIY store. It's only until pup outgrows the chewing stage.
