When do you class a dog as being a proven sire ?

Does it's pups have to win some puppy races ?

Does its pups have to run some very fast times ?

Does it have to have produced lots/little pups ?

Does it's pups have to win Opens/Titles ?

What about the ratio of pups it produces in relation to the number of dogs that then go on and run to a high open class standard ?

What about a dam ?

Do you think any bitch can throw good pups to a good sire ?

Does the bitch have to have good breeding AND have been a good racer ?

Can you have a good dam without having the best of sires ?

a dog is classed as a proven sire as soon as he has produced pups

Proven sire maybe as he has proven he can produce pups but what about the racing ability of the pups ? Was I wrong in putting Proven Sire and should I have put Proven Stud ?

If a dog was a proven sire and his pups didn't run very will what would you class him as ? Still a proven sire or would you give him another name if his pups were really good ?

Proven sire means exactly that he has proved he can do his duty and has thrown pups - whether good or bad he has proven himself by becoming a "daddy".

When a dog was an excellent racer but has only mated a couple of bitches (bitches who weren't even racers) so pups unknown or unraced would it be "Silly" to take a well bred bitch to the said dog if he was now quite old - how old is too old for a stud dog?????

Any views on this????

I wouldn't say any age is too old, so long as the dog is fit to "do it". Marillion threw pups right up until his death as far as i know & many others have.

What dog are you thinking of Sadie  Very curious now!!!! :D

lol yeah me too karen i hope u aint thinkin of mating sadies bitch lol :D :p

how about "proven sire producing winning get" :D

I'm always interested when people use something different.
