Pro's and Con's of getting a new addition?

Oliver and myself have been talking lately about when the time will be right to get another dog. We know that we always want a dog in our lives but do we get one whilst Den is still with us? I've spoken to lots of owners who have gotten a new addition to join an older dog already in the family and they've all said it's given them a burst of life!

What's everyones thoughts on this?

Has anyone done this? Did it have the desired effect? or not?

All dogs are different I guess but my cavachon really hates puppies. I am a dog sitter, so I introduce them to him on occasions. Luckily he lives in a separate flat with my mum. I was actually having this discussion with my dad today and he said he thought he would get used to it. But for me, I don't think it would be fair on him. He's only 4 but he's gotten old before his time
