:sweating: ok its nearly time....phoebe is getting speyed this wednesday we are already in a state abt it......and yes i have tablets from the doc to keep me calm!!! was just wondering if anyone could tell us what to expect afterwards like what can we do to help her recover? what are we to expect will she be sleepy for long will she be off her food so many questions how will she be in herself afterwards as in a few months after does it make them more sedate or will she still not take any notice of us when out on a run lol does it change there character?? any advice personal xperiences would be appreciated..many thanks :sweating:

Despite our previous differences I wish you :luck: :luck: and hope Phoebe makes a good recovery. My dogs have mainly been dogs so no previous experience really about spaying ( two bitches we had spayed made uneventful recoveries) but, general thing about anaesthetic recovery will apply, she'll be a bit out of it for a while, sore and generally sorry for herself. It will be harder probably on you. :luck:

please try not to worry to much :huggles: they tend to recover so quick now , some bitches are like normal the very next day , it will of course be a worrying time simply coz she is your baby having an op :huggles: usually they are fine after 2 weeks , can go off food but usually back to normal very quickly :huggles:

old sophie had the op and 3 days later was running around like a looney (w00t)

drugs are now much lighter and less risky when going under even for sighthounds who did have an increased risk , thats very minimal now :huggles:

dont forget i will come with you if you need me :huggles:

Now don't you worry, Kat & Lorna :)

I know that's easy for me to say and I shall be just as stressed when it's Jinny's turn but it's a very simple op these days and, once she gets over the general anaesthetic, she probably won't even notice it has happened

I think the most worrying time is when you get her home. Jinny had an op on her dew claw in January and she was really out of it until the next day

She came round extremely quickly from the GA but then took longer to get over it than any other dogs I have had.

Main thing is to keep her warm and have plenty of fresh water for her. She probably won't want to eat until the next day but if she does, make it something light like cooked chicken & rice. She should sleep it off within 24 hours.

She'll be fine and life will be so much easier for her once it's done

Sending lots of :huggles: :huggles: :huggles: for you all xx
