RIGHT I KNOW WHERE WE ALL GOT OUR RACING NAMES FROM AS IVE ASKED BEFORE BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR PET NAMES? IS YOURS ONE OF THE POPULAR ONES OR IS IT RARE? IVE GOT : ZIGGY (a boy) SURNAME MARLEY THOUGHT IT MATCHED WELL  BRANDY (girl) WHEN WE BOUGHT HER I WORKED WITH A GIRL CALLED BRANDY AND LIKED THE NAME. HAD JAZZ (girl) A BOXER DOG ACROSS THE ROAD WAS CALLED JAZZ AND OUR JAZZ WAS A VERY JAZZY BRINDLE  ZAK (boy) MY MATE PICKED THAT AS WE WERE HOPING FOR A BITCH DIDNT HAVE ANY DOGS NAMES PICKED THOUGHT ABOUT LEO OR BUTCH BUT HE DIDNT SUIT EITHER AND MY MATE CAME UP WITH ZAK. SAM (boy) I SAID THAT THE NEXT PUP WE GOT I WOULD CALL SAM AS IT GOES NICE WITH ZAK  THEN SPOOKILY WHEN WE DECIDED TO BUY HIM MITCH HAD ALREADY NAMED HIM SAMMY. SO COME ON WHERE DO YOURS COME FROM?
Barney was already called this so we didn't change it, our new pup Solitaire is named after hubby's grandad's whippet many years ago and when we eventually get another whippet, bitch this time, we'd like to call it Quinn - don't know why though, just like it I suppose.
I WONDER WHAT THE MOST POPULAR NAMES ARE? I THINK BOBBY AND BILLY ARE VERY POPULAR FOR BOYS AND MAYBE SALLY AND ELLIE FOR GIRLS I CUD BE WRONG THOUGH. WE WILL FIND OUT IF A LOT OF PEOPLE POST ON HERE. BY THE WAY MINE ARE ALL WHIPPS.
To name our Whip we all had a list of names we liked, and then we just whittled it down to the ones that clashed and ended up with Alfie. Quite a common dog name really, we've met a few Alfie's. I like my Uncle's dogs names, less common Dogs are called, Ouf, Thor, Kirk & Bosie. Bitches Elle (short for some weird long name that I don't remember) & Sky (already named) And their old dog Odin, I always loved that name
I think my gange have some unusual names for dogs the most comone one is milo then theres Boris and Shelby the boys and the girls are minnie talula pasqalena (bet nobodys got one of thouse) and our new girl lacey
My first dog (not including family pets) was a staffie x called Pollyanna, because she came from Battersea and was an orphan nobody wanted!!
My whippet, Oliver, was known as Pliers in rescue as all his litter had been named after DIY tools! Hence Oliver Pliers!! And he's definitely an Oliver and not an Ollie although he does get called that sometimes (and a whole host of other names as well  ).
Freddie (greyhound) was called Socks in rescue. :x I named him after Fred Astaire because he wears a tux and does a little dance when he's excited!!
Claire (greyhound) came with the name, and despite attempts to change it, it suits her! That's why she only has one name, although I often lengthen it to Clarabelle. :b
The cats - I just chose names I liked, although one vet did point out that I had gone for old fashioned names: Sascha, Jack, Gracie and Max.
Kim-don't like this name but she had it when she came to us.
Kipper-named by kids, from the kids programme.
Meg-from the Thorn Birds.
Whitey-cos he's white and it stuck from when he was born
Badger-cos she looks like one with her central blaze
Violet Waterford Rose-cos we think shes a delicate beauty and warrents such an arsy name-and my favourite colour is purple/violet.
Ezra -(Violet's brother)-who was one to leave us late but still holds the same name-cos we knew he had to go and wanted to give him a Godly name to keep him safe through his life.
Analyse that!- bloody hell-quite a bit more to it -in some cases, this simple choosing a name business.
I pick my dogs names from the Bible, Esther & Angel. Max was 14 months when we got him, so already had his name, I would have liked to call him Ezra also. I thank God for everything in my life including my dogs. <>< o
having a son called Luke and a blue and white puppy there really was no alternative than to call him Skywalker, you should see the stares I get when I call Luke first and then the dog..we do obviously shorten it to Sky on the whole. But as we all know how addictive they are I have already picked Storm as the name for the next edition....I'm sure you will have got the drift.
i usually try to reflect the pup's personality when i choose a name for them how ever failing that i link them to hunting. our gem was just pure georgeous when she was born(still is) so she was called gem though i was thinking about ruby which seemed to old fashioned to me.
My 2 are called Archie and Stanley, I like comedy names and I think old men names are pretty funny!! Mind you I have been told that Archie is quite trendy again now.
Stanl however is a pretty poor choice of name when you show him and use 'Stand' as his command on the table, Stan Stand
