Oldham-unwanted Husky Pup

Hi.My name is Chris and I am the owner of a very happy Lurcher.

A neighbour spoke to me today,she owns a beautiful 21 week Husky pup.

She is not coping very well with her and wants to rehome her.

I have taken her details and said I will try to find her a new home,I would love to take her home with me,but I simply cant due to other commitments.

She paid £500 for the pup and tells me she is fully inoculated but has no pedigree papers..I think she would not turn down any reasonable offer.

I am making no money out of this and only have the dogs interest at heart,K9 community seems a perfect place to find genuine dog lovers.

That's such a shame for the pup. Has your friend contacted the pup's breeder about the situation? If they are responsible breeders they could offer to help or put her in touch with a breed rescue.

I dont know but I will suggest that to her.

The pup is quite safe and well looked after.

\the owner seems a little neurotic/nervous to me but I`m sure the pup is in no danger.

think her best bet would be the breeder/husky rescue

Such a true statement. All pups/dogs can be hard work. People really should research dog breeds and be aware of exactly what they are likely to be getting.

Agreed, huskies are not easy dogs. Unfortunately husky rescue will not help, they are so overrun that a while ago they closed their doors to unregistered dogs. They only now help KC reg huskies because of the huge increase in poorly bred/puppy farmed dogs.

The pups breeder should always be the first point of contact when there are problems with a pup. However I suspect that this is one of the many poorly bred puppies (I'm basing this on the cost which is on the low side for a well bred husky). I would tell her to contact the breeder adn if they can't or won't help then she will have to try and find a good home privately, preferably with someone experienced with the breed.

The original purchase price of the pup has nothing to do with finding it a good home now, by the time a pup is 5 or 6 months old and if it hasn't been properly trained and socialised then you're into the realm of almost having to pay someone to take her. I would think if your neighbour could find a good, experienced home for this dog she should think herself lucky and not be looking for any money for her.

Designer and fashionable dog owners disgust me.

That did come across in your post Chris, and my reply wasn't in any way meant to be a critism of you, just a reflection of my despair at the situation so many dogs find themselves in. I'm sure with your help the owner will find a suitable home for this pup :thumbsup:
