Hi! I am very new to this infact I am not picking my whippet puppy up until saturday but I would like to be prepared.

I live in west Yorkshire and wondered if anyone knows of anything whippet in my area clubs/training classes/ shows anything really, or closest if not.

I am also open to any advice for showing as i would like to show her ( pet firstly)but i'd like her to get a chance if she can, but i am totally clueless about it all.

Thanks in advance :)

I'm sure someone will be along shortly with the info for the South Yorkshire Whippet Club, and hopefully some info with clubs local to you.

Congrats on your new baby!! Are you gettinga boy or a girl? Colour/lines. Please tell us more

Wendy

Hi, welcome to K9.

The secretary for South Yorks Whippet Club is Richard Mason tel: 01909 515864,if I've got that wrong (I am blonde you know), Dawn, (Richard's wife) whom posts on here will correct me.

They hold a couple of shows a year,a Champ Show and an Open Show.I honestly can't remember if they also have a Limit show or not....... :b .

I'd also suggest you contact Dennis Mayger tel:01494 523372,he is the secretary of the Whippet Club.

As for showing, hopefully there are ringcraft classes held locally that you can go to.Does the breeder that you are getting your pup from live close to you ? Could they help you ?

Also, are you getting a boy or a girl ? What colour is he/ she ? How old will it be when you pick it up ?

Hi! Thanks for replies we're a getting brindle bitch 10 weeks old from Courthill. Mum Courthill confetti, dad Rivarco classic Jazz, can't wait we're really excited about her.we are travelling down to London to pick her up so breeder is a long way from us

It was dawns idea for me to post for info on here because i don't think there's a lot of whippet venues in my area and i need all the help I can get, so all advice is appreciated. :)

I have Courthill Confetti `s( or Toffee as she is known)`s sister !!Courthill Cinnamim Queen at MULCAIR.

Roger Stocks the breeder is in Cambridgeshire , even further away than London for you I think .

Look forward to seeing pictures of Fleurs `niece`

Hi! Jax,and all,

We're picking her up from Luton, Roger's running a couple of pups on there( he's been great lots of help and advice), we could have waited until next weekend and collected her from barnsley a lot closer.

But I talked my hubby into driving down there because I can't wait that long, already waited since she was 5 weeks old. (Spoilt kid syndrome I think) o:)

I will definatley post some pics when I get her, will want to show her off to everybody.

I am going to like being part of the whippet world it's very freindly :huggles:

:D Hello, Lesley, try contacting Barnsley Canine Society, Secretary is Mrs D Massey, 01924 157106. If they don't have ringcraft, matches etc, they will know another club in the area that will. There are two societies in Doncaster and another in Driffield, another one is Hemsworth, secretary is Mr A D Barratt, 01977 647889. Hopefully that should get you going.

Like everyone else, welcome to K9, enjoy your puppy and showing.

Who was it that said they were going to some remote place called Tamsvik? Border patrols have been told to watch out for strange English females!

All I can think of is 2 English ladies entering the country, & they each have a suite case full of Viagra & Condoms. "But Mr. Border Patrolman. We are only here for the week-end. No we dont have a working permit." :teehee:

Cartman not having ever met Jax or Rubywhip all I can picture is those 2 English ladies with the cooking show who used to be on TV. Can see them both on their Motor Bike with side car riding off towards the border full of anticipation about the adventures ahead
