North West Lurcher, Terrier, and Whippet Club Show Sunday 12th May 13
Another great day of Racing, Showing , Excitement and laughter was had by all at the new venue of the North West
Lurcher,Terrier, and Whippet Club Show, held at Killynaught Road , Artigarvan , Strabane,Co Tyrone last Sunday 12th May. 13. This new show ground was superb with a good long Racing Track, views to die for, and loads of room in the show rings. Ringside parking was laid on ,with Toilet facilities , and a burger van on site to keep hunger at bay.
The weather was not kind with torrential rain pouring down at times. But the rain did not dampen the spirits of the racers and showers on the day. This show is always a great family day out with lots of fun and frolics, and we were not disappointed on Sunday. It was nice to see the usual show goers back at the shows this year, and in the ring showing off their Whippets, Terriers, Lurchers and Hounds, and maybe a nice trophy to take home at the end of the day.. The racing began at approximately 12.30noon, followed immediately with the showing.
Three little people in the childrens handling class were proud little people yesterday, with their winning dogs in tow in the ring. They give their best and were very worthy winners. Well done to Elija Creggan/Jamie Dumigan/Bailey Melaugh. Three very happy little people yesterday and congratulations to all the other children who took part . You were all winners in my eyes.
There was also a pet showing class .This was a big hit at the show. Some beautiful dogs in this class, and all so loyal and faithful to their owners. The winners here were
1/ Cira Melaugh
2/ Sinead Lynn
3/ Laura McGlynn
Well done to all.
Concepta Melaugh could not stop smiling, and went home with an armful of trophys. These were all won by her daughter and grandaughter. Well done the Melaugh family.
Over in the Terrier ring, young Jo Wilson, Terence Metcalfes daughter won the Terrier Crossbreeds. Jo was one delighted young lady. We were all so proud of you. This young lady is an up and coming young sportswoman and a chip of the old block. Well done Jo.

That is all the results of the showing, and congratulations to the winners and to everyone who took part. Have got no results of the Racing yet, but as soon as I get them I will add them in.
And finally, a very big thank you to the judges who done a wonderful but difficult job in very wet and windy conditions. To the club committee, and NILRC , A big thank you to you all for your help and dedication. Barry and Joe, you pulled out all the stops and turned the day into a brilliant dog show and a family friendly day out. Hope it will all happen very soon again with the NWLTC in command. Thanks for a very enjoyable day.
