News from the Club
Highlights from the AGM, which was held at Newmarket on Sunday, 14th March 04, this was on a re-arranged date due to deep snow in Suffolk on the 29th February when the meeting was first organised.
The committee has had some slight re-arrangements with Carol Brown standing down as Treasurer, but keeping the post as Trophy Secretary; Rob Rixon has moved over from Racing Manager to be the new Treasurer; Ray Pond has joined the committee as the new Racing Manager with Steve Bale and Harry Lee as his assistants. Dave Brown will continue as Chairman and Handicapper, Philippa Rixon remains as Secretary and Sue Shakespeare as Press Officer. Kevin Shakespeare remains on the committee and Frances Bale, Richard & Mandy Lee joins the committee.
It was agreed that Racing & Trial fees will go up to £1.50, but membership subscriptions will remain at £10.00 (and £15.00 joint). Racing Rules remain unchanged and only a slight change to the Constitution.
Details of the Straight Open were discussed and finalised. The bend Open is still to be finalised but will now be run in the autumn and is likely to become the club’s charity event.
Dave, Carol and Nicola Brown were awarded Life Membership for services to the club during its first 25-year history.
